Step 4 - Connect a SmartLock to Common Area

In this article, we'll be going through Connecting a SmartLock to the Common Area, On its prerequisites and requirements

With the Spaces App, You can Create Common Areas and Connect them to the lock. Common Areas are spaces like the Front door, Kitchen, Lift, etc. Areas which need to be accessed by most of the Property Guests.


Requirements:

  1. Have Bluetooth On.

  2. Have Location On.

  3. Be Close to the SmartLock.

  4. You should keep the SmartLocks screen on, by touching it.


Create a Common Area

  • Open the Spaces App.

  • Find the "Common" section.

  • Press the "+" button.

  • Enter Common Area name and Floor name (Optional).

  • Press the "Create" button.

  • Congratulations!

Note

You can also choose any room from the Rooms section on your Gboard, and set it up as a Common Area.


Connect a SmartLock to the Common Area

  • Open Spaces App

  • Choose "not Connected" Common Area.

  • Select Device.

  • Press the SmartLock's name with the status "ready". (You may need to reset the SmartLock first)

  • After the connecting process ends press the button "Done".

  • While connecting the SmartLock, Admin PIN will be set automatically or you need to set it.

Note:

  1. Common Areas also support exclusive features like Limit Access.

  2. Common Area Pins for reservations are not created randomly; they need to be created and "shared at check-in email".

  3. Once you connect the SmartLock, its time will be shown next to the Battery percentage: In the Spaces app, time displays as pm and am on the locks and PINs, so it will be shown in 12 hours version.
