Step 5 - Assigning Common Areas to a Room

In this article, we'll learn how to assign a common area to a room using the Gboard and the Spaces app.

Updated over a month ago

Goki system is a multi-function system which means it has a chain system and everything needs to be done step by step. Common Areas need to be assigned to the rooms. You can do it from the Goki dashboard and Space App.

Requirements:

  1. Common Area should be created from the Spaces App or Goki dashboard.

  2. Have "Rooms and Common Area doors" permissions

Connect Room to Common Area

Once you have already added your Common Area and optionally connected your SmartLock to it, you can now assign the Common Area to the rooms you desire.

This way, the guests that check in to the room gain access to the common area as well.

From Goki dashboard:

  • Go to your property's Gboard.

  • Open "Rooms."

  • Choose the room to which you want to assign the Common Area.

  • Press "Common Area" next to the "Beds" section.

  • Press and check the Common Area you want to connect to the room.

Or from the Spaces App:

  • For a room that is connected to a SmartLock:

    • Choose the room you want to assign the Common Area.

    • Open room details (Tap on the 3 dot icon on the top right)

    • Tap on Settings → Common Area

    • Turn the toggle on if you want to connect it to the room.

  • For a room that is not connected to any locks:

  • Go to the "not connected" room list.

  • Drag the room row to the left & tap on the Edit button (Or tap on the Edit button at the top-right corner → 3 dot icon)

  • Tap on Settings → Common Area.

  • Turn the toggle on if you want to connect it to the room.

Note:

  • Assigning a Common Area to a room means any guest who has access to the room will also gain access to the corresponding Common Area.

  • Common Area PINs are the same for every reservation/room.

  • Common Area Pins for reservations are not created randomly, they need to be created and "shared at check-in email".
