Arrival is an optional add-on that can help you achieve automated check-ins.

Goki has built a self-check-in system that can run on a tablet -Android or iOS - or a guest's mobile phone (using a QR code) to automate your check-in process.

Although the Goki Arrival App is enabled on the account types it is completely optional to use and will not affect other features in Goki including Access Generation.

1. What is Check-in?

Check-in is the action of changing a guest's reservation status to "check-in" on your PMS. PMS has all the check-in rules and a button to check a guest in. There is no action to check a guest in on Goki dashboard (if you have a PMS).

2. What is Access Generation?

Goki generates a PIN and SmartKey for the customer to enter their room. This is done via autopilot. And you need to make sure the below automation cards are on:

  • When a reservation is checked in -> Generate access

  • When access is changed -> Send "access changed" email

Note: Access Generation has nothing to do with the Goki Arrival App. As soon as your PMS sends a reservation with the status of "checked in", and you have the above automation on, Goki will generate access and communicate with your guests.

3. What is Arrival?

Arrival is an App in your Settings > Marketplace > Arrival. You need to connect it if you want to use this feature.

Goki Arrival App will use your PMS to find a reservation, and then we collect guests' information and pass it to the PMS. Note that the Goki Arrival App does not check the guest in.

Once we pass the information to the PMS we also ask the PMS, if they can change the reservation status to "checked in". This is similar to you pressing the check-in button on your PMS. And it is on your PMS to decide on whether this reservation can be checked in or not.

If the PMS checks the user in, then it will send the reservation status update to Goki and we generate the access.


Note:

Although the Goki Arrival App asks your PMS to check the guest in, your PMS can reject this request and there is nothing for Goki to do. This is similar to you pressing the check-in button on your PMS and your PMS showing you an error.

i.e. if your PMS has a rule for room ready, and you have defined do not let check-in unless the room is cleaned. You need to make sure before every check-in that the room is cleaned. Otherwise, the check-in will fail on PMS with the room is not a ready error.


4. What is Goki Pre-Check-in?

Goki Pre Arrival App is part of the Goki Arrival App. It will collect the guest's information pre-arrival. This will save time on the Goki Arrival App when the guest has arrived at your property.

If a user has completed the pre-check-in process, on arrival, they only need to enter the reservation code and their last name and we will send all previously collected information to the PMS and ask PMS to check the guest in.
